Vulnerable employees and infectious diseases

Vulnerable employees may be at increased risk of contracting an infection or becoming more seriously ill. This may mean that additional protective measures are necessary.

Examples of vulnerable groups include:

  • young employees (under 18 years of age)
  • older employees (over 60 years of age)
  • employees planning pregnancy, pregnant employees, and employees who are breastfeeding
  • employees with compromised immune systems, for example due to medication use or other medical conditions
  • employees with a disability
