Quick tips for healthy working

  • Quiet environment
Preferably work with a desk and an office chair in a bright and undistracting environment.
  • More exercise
Exercise provides variety and relaxation. Make sure you take short active breaks and get away from the PC regularly.
  • Build in movement in a natural way
Organize the work in a way that makes it necessary for you to be in motion regularly. Take simple measures, such as placing a printer remotely. A sit/stand table offers good variety options when sitting for long periods of time.
  • Provide a warning signal
Behind the screen you are completely absorbed in your work, a signal to interrupt work for a while is welcome. Don't let it be your body that gives the signals, but for example pause software that indicates that it is time to do something else.
  • Avoid stress
Be driven to get a job done, but don't overdo it.
  • Use your laptop and PC wisely
Connect the laptop to a monitor, mouse and keyboard at a fixed workplace. Use the function keys more often. Place the mouse close to the body when doing a lot of mouse work.
  • Pay attention to a good working posture
With a good working posture you sit upright with your back, arms and feet supported. Your thighs are horizontal and the feet are flat on the floor or on a footrest. The shoulders and arms are relaxed, the armrests at the height of the worktop. The screen is right in front of you, at eye level and at a distance where all details are clearly visible. If necessary, use computer glasses. Place the keyboard and mouse within easy reach. See: Setting up the computer workstation properly.
  • Also pay attention to a good working posture at home
The hours at home count! Also pay attention to posture, movement and breaks at home.
  • Provide sport and relaxation
The body needs exercise and rest. Sport and relaxation make the body less vulnerable.
  • Pay attention to signals from your body
The body speaks, be alert to what it has to say. Healthy food (Nutrition Center) and good sleep are also important.
  • Don't keep walking around with complaints but seek help
Serious complaints can be prevented by quick recognition and taking immediate measures.
