Safe and healthy working practices

Your umc is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment. To support this, continuous prevention programs are in place, including those focused on physical strain and RSI/CANS. The goal is to prevent physically demanding working conditions, or, if that’s not possible, to reduce them as much as possible. In many departments, ergocoaches play an active role. An ergocoach is the key contact person within the team for preventing physical strain. They serve as a point of contact for all colleagues and support supervisors in developing and implementing action plans. Ergocoaches are typically active in nursing, treatment, and facility departments. In other departments, or depending on the umc, the role may have a different title, such as local occupational health officer, Health & Safety and Environment contact, or prevention officer.

You are entitled to tools that reduce the physical strain of your work and to training that helps optimize your working posture. At the same time, as an employee, you share responsibility for maintaining a healthy and safe work environment by striving for healthy work habits. You can also provide suggestions to the ergo coach, your supervisor, or the occupational health service to help improve your working environment.
