Roster policy

Serious Rooster Game

Most schedules have been carefully drawn up. Problems with schedules are mainly caused by illness of employees, vacancies, extra work and swapping shifts. Such roster changes can put extra strain on employees and develop complaints. Better planning also helps to achieve a good work-life balance. The Serious Roostergame app helps teams achieve a stable schedule. The app was co-developed by the umc’s (SoFoKleS) and the general hospitals (StAZ). Regular evaluation of the scheduling process is important, with input from the employees.

E-learning

Within the umc’s, many employees are involved in the planning and scheduling process. One person makes schedules for a department, another puts the schedules in the system and yet another is planning full-time. The aim is for every umc employee to have the most recent scheduling knowledge and planning skills. This way, all schedulers, planners and managers within the umc are on the same level. The aim is that everyone uses the same efficient system and has the same knowledge. For this purpose, Radboud umc has developed an E-learning 'Planning is a profession'. Now each umc has its own process and each umc works with its own software package. That is why the tailor-made modules and the 'couleur locale' in the e-learning are adapted per umc.

Post-graduate education

Would you like to learn more about the field of planning and scheduling? HAN University of Applied Sciences has developed a post-graduate course called 'Planning in healthcare'. The training has been developed in collaboration with the general hospitals (StAZ) and the umc’s (SoFoKleS) and specialists from the field.
